After the initial Times and New Yorker stories dropped in October 2017, media coverage of #MeToo and sexual assault jumped 52 percent over the following year, according to a study conducted by the Women's Media Center feminist organization.
"This has been a year when the media and truth itself are under siege," said the center's president when the study was published. "By exposing horrible individual and institutional practices, we see an opportunity for a new transparency and permanent changes aimed at greater equality and power for women."
The number of Black female TV showrunners has risen in recent years, according to the Women’s Media Center.
Women scored only 33% of Emmy nominations in non-acting categories this year, a slight uptick from the 32% last year but far short of gender parity goals that Hollywood has touted, according to an analysis released Thursday by the Women’s Media Center.
Just 33% of the nominations for non-acting Emmy awards this year went to women, a study released Thursday from the Women’s Media Center found, in a sign of the continuing male domination of the television industry.
