Bio

Rebecca Vilkomerson has been working in social justice movement organizations for over two decades, most recently as the Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace from 2009-2019. Vilkomerson has since co-founded, with Soheir Asaad, the Funding Freedom project, which works to build solidarity and support for Palestinian freedom through education, advocacy, communications in philanthropy.

She authored Funding Freedom: Philanthropy and the Palestinian Freedom Movement, a report published by Solidaire in 2022. Her book Solidarity is the Political Form of Love: Lessons from Jewish Anti-Zionist Organizing, co-authored with Rabbi Alissa Wise, will be published by Haymarket Books in 2024.

During her time at Jewish Voice for Peace, she led JVP’s growth into a leading national and international Jewish progressive force, expanding from four staff, six chapters, a few hundred members and a budget of $400,000 in 2009 to over 30 staff across the country, 70 chapters, almost 20,000 members and a budget of over $4 million by 2019, an active Rabbinical Cabinet and a growing youth wing.

Rebecca serves as Vice President of her synagogue Kolot Chayeinu and on the Leadership Team (board) of the anti-racist anti fascist organization SURJ.

Rebecca has been widely published in numerous media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times, CNN.com, The Nation, The Hill, Huffington Post, Tikkun and Zeek. In 2010, she was named as one of the Forward 50, the Forward’s list of 50 most influential Jewish Americans. Rebecca has a master’s degree in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University. Rebecca lived in Israel with her family from 2006-2009.
