Bio

Rachel Preston Prinz is an architecturally-trained American designer, preservationist, author, documentary filmmaker, and artist working in architecture, cultural + historic preservation, and sustainability. She's the Founding Director of the hybrid firm Archinia and it's non-profit Architecture for EveryBody.

Rachel graduated with a Masters of Architecture and Certificate in Preservation from Texas A&M in 1998. Her work has included architectural forensics, archaeological architecture, historic preservation, accessibility, and bio-climatic design.

Rachel's work focuses on the intersections of architecture, storytelling/filmmaking, archeology, travel, food, and art… ways of experiencing the Genius Loci, or “Spirit of Place.” Rachel has developed tours, articles, blogs, coursework, workshops, and new media edutainment products on vernacular, high design, and spiritual architecture. Rachel has done 4 TEDx and Pecha Kucha talks on critical regionalism, landscape, pattern languages, and photography.

And, Rachel is going blind from macular degeneration.

Rachel’s work has been featured on HGTV, Bravo, NMPBS, Canadian PBS; Reader’s Digest, Trend, and Inc. magazines. She’s been featured in numerous articles, talks, podcasts, interviews and books on design, leadership, and finding courage in difficult circumstances.
