Activist and political strategist Glynda C. Carr is recognized for her innovative leadership style, commitment to expanding the civic participation of communities of color and advancing progressive public policies that build sustainable communities.
Currently, Carr is a Principal at Liberty Street Capital, Inc., a New York based boutique public affairs, community relations and political strategy consulting firm that provides strategic services to corporations, non-profits and candidates running for public office.
In 2011, Carr co-founded Higher heights for America a national organization focused on inspiring Black women to be change agents by harnessing their collective power and influence to eliminate the inequities in public education, health and economic opportunities for black women, their families and communities across the United States.
Carr is the former Executive Director of Education Voters of New York, a leading independent voice for school reform in the state. She joined Education Voters in 2008 where she became New York’s youngest African-American woman to run a state-wide advocacy organization.
Prior to Education Voters, Carr served as Chief of Staff to State Senator Kevin Parker (Brooklyn), and managed the Senator’s key initiatives and shaped policy around youth development and economic development for the then newly created 21st senatorial district.
Carr has held senior management positions with key national organizations including: Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She is a frequent contributor to NAACP’s The Brock Report and appears on Fox News Live and several other media outlets. She was named a “Rising Star” in The Capitol’s 2009 40 under 40 edition.
