Andrea Strimling Yodsampa, PhD, is the CEO of DEPLOY/US, a not-for-profit dedicated to pragmatic, market-based climate and energy solutions. 

Dr. Yodsampa is a social entrepreneur and social scientist with 25 years experience in government, civil society, and academia, including work in the US, Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe. Her areas of expertise include energy and environmental policy, climate change, clean technology, national security, international affairs, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, public-private partnerships, civil-military cooperation, negotiation and consensus building.

She served as lead researcher on multiple innovation research efforts sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She has played a leadership role in developing methodologies and software tools for resiliency assessment, and joint civil-military strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, which have been piloted by the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, US Department of State, and US Central Command’s NESA Center.

Dr. Yodsampa served for over a decade as a Commissioner with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.  She designed and led conflict management programs in Asia, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe. With support of the agency director, she established and directed FMCS’s Inter-Organizational Cooperation Program, working with senior leaders from the US Departments of Defense and State, USAID, NGOs, international organizations, and academic institutions to strengthen interagency, civil-military, and government-NGO cooperation.

She is a co-founder and former Chair of the Board of the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP), a Washington, DC – based NGO. She served on the US delegation to the Stockholm Forum on Truth, Justice and Reconciliation in 2002.

Research awards include post-doctoral and pre-doctoral fellowships from the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, International Security Program; Smith Richardson Foundation World Politics and Statecraft Fellowship; Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School Graduate Research Fellowship; and Fulbright Senior Scholarship in South Africa.

Speaking appearances include the US Institute of Peace, US Military Academy at West Point, Foreign Service Institute, Northern Command, National Defense University, Marine Corps University, Harvard University, Emory University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, and public and private institutions overseas.

She has a PhD in international relations from the Fletcher School, Tufts University; an MPP in energy and environmental policy from the Harvard Kennedy School; and a BA in history from Dartmouth College.
