Sara Hylton
Bio:
Sara Hylton is an award-winning Canadian documentary photographer recognized for her compassionate and intimate approach to human rights issues. Hylton is a graduate from the International Center of Photography and holds an MA from Kings College London. Her work focuses on issues around gender, Indigenous people, and the environment with clients including National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Harper's Magazine, Vogue Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal, among others.
While precise figures are not known and are vastly underreported, a 2018 study from the Urban Indian Health Institute found that Native American women are 10 times more likely to be murdered than other American women.
