Louise W. Knight

Louise (Lucy) W. Knight is an author and visiting scholar in the Gender Studies Program at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. She has written two biographies of Jane Addams, an in-depth study of her formative years, Citizen: Jane Addams and the Struggle for Democracy (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005), and a shorter full life, Jane Addams: Spirit in Action (W.W. Norton, 2010). Her book reviews have appeared in the New York Times Book Review, the Wall Street Journal and the Women’s Review of Books. She has appeared on the Diane Rehm Show and C-Span Book TV, and is an OpEd Project alumna. Her website is www.louisewknight.com
