multiracial
for the first time in U.S. history, birth data indicate that the number of children born to parents of different races is growing faster than the number born to single-race couples (Seth Schiesel and Robert L. Turner, Boston Globe Sunday Magazine). It seems illogical to retain terms like "biracial" and "multiracial" when the concept of "race" itself is incorrect, but do use them for those who self-identify that way. (It often isn't necessary to mention a person's heritage at all.)
