Bio

Lena Chen is a Chinese American writer and artist. Named a Progressive Women’s Voices fellow at the Women’s Media Center and a “new feminist leader” by More Magazine, Chen graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Studies of Women, Gender, & Sexuality.

One of the first women of color sex bloggers, she wrote about coming of age as a first-generation Asian American exploring her sexuality and grappling with depression. Praised for her “hardcore approach to covering sex without self-censoring” (Salon.com), she has been featured as a commentator for outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian, Marie Claire, CNN, and Glamour. Over the past decade, she has given public talks at major conferences and universities on sex education, reproductive justice, and the impact of technology on feminist activism and women's labor. She has organized international projects with funding from the Puffin Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

As a survivor of revenge porn and cyber-stalking, she is passionate about combating bullying and slut-shaming. Her artistic work promotes civic engagement and offers a platform for survivors to discuss and heal from sexual trauma and gender-based violence.
