With President Obama announcing the end to a decades long arms embargo to Vietnam, we FEATURE Susan Shirk. Susan Shirk is Ho Miu Lam Professor of China and Pacific Relations and Director of the 21st China Program at the University of California, San Diego School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. Shirk served as director of the University of California system-wide Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation from 1992-1997 and again from 2006-2011. The Supreme Court has overturned a death sentence due to evidence of racial bias, for analysis we FEATURE Diann Rust-Tierney. Diann Rust-Tierney became the Executive Director of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (NCADP) in 2004. As NCADP Executive Director, Ms. Rust-Tierney manages and directs the program for the national organization and 100 affiliates seeking to change public policy on the death penalty. Before coming to the NCADP, Ms. Rust-Tierney was the Director of the American Civil Liberties Union Capital Punishment Project in Washington, D.C. from 1991 to 2004. As its lead strategist and spokesperson, she appeared on radio and television to educate the public about problems with the death penalty, and developed death penalty education materials, including a video on race and capital punishment. A police officer was acquitted of all charges in the arrest of Freddie Gray, for comment we FEATURE Lisalyn R. Jacobs. Lisalyn R.
