Bio

Rebecca Sive is a speaker and commentator on women’s political leadership and power, a past lecturer at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, and the author of two books, Vote Her In: Your Guide to Electing Our First Woman President (2018), and Every Day Is Election Day: A Woman’s Guide to Winning Any Office, from the PTA to the White House (2013). Sive’s writing on women and politics has been published by The Huffington Post, The Hill, MSNBC, Crains Chicago Business, and Feministing.

Sive, listed in Feminists Who Changed America (2006, University of Illinois Press), has been widely recognized for her distinguished public leadership and advocacy of opportunity for women and girls. She has spoken on women and leadership at: Starbucks HQ, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Navigant Consulting, Inc., Mesirow Financial, Publicis Groupe, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, the Women's Funding Network, National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Roosevelt Institute, National Conference of State Legislatures, Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago, The Ohio State University, University of Washington Law School, University of Texas, and the Association for Women Journalists.

At the start of their respective inaugural terms, Sive was among the national leaders who developed women's issues agendas for Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. She has advised numerous celebrities, public officials, and corporate leaders and was a corporate officer and director. Sive was a gubernatorial appointee to the Illinois Human Rights Commission; a mayoral appointee as a commissioner of the Chicago Park District; a founding board member of the Chicago Foundation for Women; and has served as a director of many other organizations and foundations.
