Nita Rao is an attorney at a major law firm in Washington DC. Nita is originally from Australia and received her undergraduate law and arts degrees from Monash University in Melbourne. During her time at Monash, Nita won the World Universities Debate Championships in Berlin, and ranked as a top ten speaker in the world. Since then, Nita has worked as a debate coach with universities all around the world including Yale University, the University of Zimbabwe, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Before moving to the US, Nita worked at the Attorney General's Department as part of Australia's landmark Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. She also taught Equity & Trusts at the University of Western Sydney. Nita holds a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center.

In her spare time, Nita records a podcast which is dedicated to discussing all topics to do with the Melbourne Football Club. She is trained in Indian and Western classical singing.
