Bio

Latifa Lyles is the Vice President of External Relations at the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Previously, she was the Director of the Women's Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2014 until 2017, where she worked to advance and improve standards, practices and opportunities for women in the labor force. In this position, she has led the agency's policy and research initiatives, including paid leave for working families and equal pay for women. Lyles also modernized the agency's outreach and communications operations. In collaboration with the White House Council on Women and Girls and Center for American Progress, she led the Department of Labor's efforts for the 2014 White House Summit on Working Families.

Lyles joined the Obama Administration in October 2009 and served as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Bureau before assuming the role of Director in March 2014. As Deputy Director, she oversaw regional operations, programming and outreach, including the 2011 National Dialogue on Workplace Flexibility in collaboration with the White House Council on Women and Girls and leading advocates and corporate leaders across the United States.

Previously Lyles served as a Vice President, fundraiser, NOW PAC Treasurer and media spokesperson for the National Organization for Women (NOW), senior fundraiser for the Public Justice Foundation, and in policy associate roles for the Older Women's League and the Association for Women in Science.
