Bio

Kelly West is a filmmaker and photojournalist who has been documenting local communities for almost two decades. While her experience spans any genre of storytelling, she has a particular interest in women's issues. In 2017, she worked with the Women's Media Center to produce a PSA about the harassment that women politicians face, both in campaigning and serving in office.

West has been nominated for two regional Emmy's, and has won both statewide and nationwide awards for her photo and video work. Her experience began in newspapers, where she worked for 14 years in print media. After completing a Master's degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Texas-Austin, she transitioned to a more digital focus, and eventually began a career as a freelance filmmaker and photographer. Her clients include Texas Monthly, NPR, Texas A&M University, and a variety of nonprofit organizations.
