Katherine E. Miller is a prominent Collaborative Lawyer and family mediator with a practice located in Westchester County, NY. After a decade of child welfare and matrimonial litigation, she abandoned the court system in search of a better way for families to resolve disputes. Becoming a mediator in 1998 and one of the first and best known Collaborative Lawyers in the New York Metropolitan area, Miller has made it her mission to educate the public about the importance of choosing a way to get divorced once the decision to divorce or separate is made. Miller advocates putting the needs of children first, respecting the parties and alleviating the stress and agony of divorcing families.
Miller is immediate Past President of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals, a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and chairperson of their 2006 Public Education Campaign. She teaches mediation with the Center for Mediation in Law and lectures on Collaborative Law, mediation and family conflict resolution around the country.
Miller is co-author of the Amazon best seller, A Cup of Coffee with 10 of the United States’ Best Divorce Attorneys (Rutherford Press 1024) and author of the upcoming New Yorker’s Guide to Collaborative Law. Her interviews have been quoted in The New York Times, New York Newsday, Money Magazine, Ladies Home Journal (pending) as well as numerous local publications in the New York area. Katherine has appeared on the Today Show and Suze Orman and been interviewed on several local and national radio programs, broadcast and satellite discussing her work.
Miller grew up in New York City and received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College. She received her law degree from Fordham University Law School and holds several certificates in mediation and Collaborative Law. She is admitted to the bars of New York and Connecticut.
