Bio

Based in St. Louis, Holly Edgell leads a team of four reporters as editor for a new public radio collaborative on race, identity and culture called "Sharing America." This initiative includes four stations: WNPR (Hartford), KWMU (St. Louis), KCUR (Kansas City), and OPB (Portland, OR).

In June 2017, she wrapped up a term as interim digital director at WEWS and News5Cleveland.com in Cleveland. Before that she had the opportunity to serve as Communications and Marketing Officer for Belize's National Institute of Culture and History (NICH).

From March 2015 to May 2016, Holly led digital content strategy for the Scripps-owned NBC affiliate television in Kansas City, Mo. In addition to overseeing editorial and social media operations, she led a team that collaborated closely with the broadcast staff in an integrated newsroom.

Prior to that, as Community Editor at Scripps flagship WCPO-9 On Your Side in Cincinnati (2012-2015), her duties included social media strategy and implementation and online community news coverage using a team of contributors.

Before moving to Cincinnati she spent about nine months as an independent journalist and consultant in St. Louis. Prior to that she was a regional editor for Patch.com, overseeing a team of 13 full-time journalists in the metro St. Louis area. She joined Patch.com after more than four years on the Radio-Television faculty at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Before that she served on the journalism faculty at Florida A&M University.
