Bio

Evelyn Lamb is a mathematician at the University of Utah who is passionate about communicating the beauty and power of mathematics to everyone. She worked as a math and science writer at Scientific American, Slate, and other media outlets before becoming an assistant professor at the University of Utah.

Her experience writing for the public has helped her understand how to talk about math in a way people without STEM degrees can understand. She is enthusiastic about talking with anybody about mathematics, mathematicians, statistics, and mathematics education.

She engages with the public through her blog Roots of Unity, on the Scientific American blog network, and on Twitter, in addition to speaking at universities about her research and mathematics careers.

She earned her Ph.D. in mathematics from Rice University.
