Emily F. Peters is author of the books "Artists Remaking Medicine" (2023) and "Women Remaking Medicine" (2019) and an expert on healthcare culture and transformation.

Following a career in digital health startups as part of the founding teams of Practice Fusion and Doximity, Emily launched the healthcare brand strategy studio Uncommon Bold in 2013. The creative team has led design and engagement work with healthcare organizations including Blue Shield of California and Lyra Health. In 2016, Peters suffered a near-fatal hemorrhage in childbirth and became an international advocate for blood donation and maternal health.

Peters has been featured on NPR, CBS (KPIX), Health Affairs, the San Francisco Standard and the New York Times.

Healthcare innovation and culture change - Emily has worked alongside physicians, nurses, patients, administrators, and policy makers in the healthcare field since 2009. Through her work and writing, she is an expert on the crises of clinician burnout, financial toxicity, health equity, tech debt, reimbursement policy, and failing patient outcomes and life expectancy.

Art and medicine - Emily's latest book explores 25 stories of artist changemakers who are creating a better healthcare future. Musicians, painters, educators, architects, writers, and photographers...the book is a bold chronicle of the history, practice and future of radical creativity in healthcare progress.

Digital health and technology - Emily has worked closely with many of the most innovative healthcare technology companies including Lyra Health, Elation Health, Kindred at Home (Humana).

Maternal health - Emily is a survivor of a near-fatal postpartum hemorrhage (Amniotic Fluid Embolism) in 2016. She is a frequent speaker on the topics of America's maternal health crisis and blood donation. In 2017, she worked with the Vitalant Blood Bank to identify and meet many of her 32 blood donors.

Women in healthcare leadership - Emily is an advocate for women in healthcare. Starting with her 2019 book "Women Remaking Medicine," she has spoken to women physician, medical student, and executive groups across the US.
