Elaine Weiss is the National Coordinator for the Broader Bolder Approach to Education, where she works with a high-level Task Force and coalition partners to promote a comprehensive, evidence-based set of policies to allow all children to thrive. She came to BBA from the Pew Charitable Trusts, where she served as project manager for Pew's Partnership for America’s Economic Success campaign. In that capacity, she worked with researchers to assemble evidence on the economic benefits of early childhood investments, developed advocacy materials, and worked with state partners to engage business leaders to promote effective early childhood programs. Ms. Weiss is an attorney, a cum laude graduate of the Harvard Law School, and she received a Ph.D. in public policy from the George Washington University in August, 2011. Elaine received her B.A. in political science and B.S. in biology from the University of Maryland at College Park. Among her publications are the April 2013 report Market-Oriented Reforms’ Rhetoric Trumps Reality, for the Broader, Bolder Approach, co-authored with Donald Long; Investment in Pre-k Programs, 2001--2010: A Mixed-Methods Evaluation of the Influence of Policy Networks. Dissertation (2011); and The Economic Value of the U.S. Early Childhood Sector (co-authored with Richard Brandon, February 2011). She was a member of the Center for Disease Control's K2A task force on child abuse as a public health issue from 2010 through 2013 and served as volunteer counsel for clients at the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.
