Bio

Dr. Sine Plambech (PhD) is an anthropologist working on irregular migration, trafficking, sex work, and the European migration crisis. She is a researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studie’s Department of Migration, Finance & Aid and Adjunct Professor at Barnard College – Department of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Columbia University.

15 years of experience, including field work experience, among sex workers, sex worker migrants, victims of human trafficking, smuggled migrants, marriage migrants. In Thailand, Nigeria, Denmark, Italy & Red Light Districts across the world.

She has served as advisor to the European Commission, Governments, NGOs and Embassies. She frequently comments in national and international media and writes Op-Eds. Sine is the recipient of the prestigious Sapere Aude Elite Research Grant

Her work appeared on BBC, Le Monde, Deutche Welle, iCNN and she has served as fact-checker for The New Yorker and New York Times.
