Dr. Jonniann Butterfield is an associate professor at Austin Peay State University, where she has been for the past 10 years; she also serves as the chair of the APSU Institutional Review Board. She was awarded a Ph.D. in Sociology from Florida State University in 2010 and her M.S. degree in Sociology in 2005. She graduated from the University of Pittsburg in 1999 with a B.S. in Sociology. Her focal areas include social inequality, gender, sexualities, environmental sociology, and family sociology. She is widely published, including three publications in Gender and Society, a top ranked journal in the discipline. She is currently authoring a textbook on gender and sexualities and completing publication of the study “LED lights and Student Outcomes in Murfreesboro City Schools.” Her invited corporate talks include “The Case for Inclusion and Diversity in the Workplace”, “Understanding the Shifting Cultural Landscape”, and “State of Gay in the U.S.A.”. She is available as a source for expertise on the subjects listed above.
