Carol Olson is the past President at Virginia Center for Public Press and it's platform - WRIR 97.3 LPFM, Richmond Independent Radio. She produces the following radio broadcasts: The V Word, Recovery Is (formerly - Richmond Recovers), Women and Politics, and specials (Our Monumental City, Where Radio Is Real) I hosted and executive produced Inspire Indeed from 2014 - 2018. I created special events to engage, train, and develop women and under-represented groups into radio: RVA Women in Audio - all day training workshops that occur twice a year. I developed and launched a bi-annual event to produce radio in front of a live audience: Local Voices Live. I hosted a panel discussion on journalists in audio talking about the representation of news in media.

I am a subject matter expert in mental health, trauma, addictive disorders as well as trauma-informed therapy, art therapy, and crisis evaluations. I have two graduate degrees in human services fields (counseling and art therapy) as well as post-graduate studies in women and policy. I am the Founder and past-President of the Virginia Art Therapy Association, a statewide mental health professional organization. I am an Assistant Director in Injury and Violence Prevention over sexual, domestic, and intimate partner violence and the trauma counseling program at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have previously led a regional rape crisis center, worked in executive leadership at a state-wide coalition and a national advocacy organization. I have over 18 years of experience in trauma-focused therapies, family and partner therapy, and change therapies. I provide expert witness testimony regarding the impact of sexual and interpersonal violence and trauma on victims.
