Serra Sippel
Bio:
Serra Sippel is the president of the Washington-based Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), where she leads the organization’s efforts to ensure that U.S. foreign policies and programs promote sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls around the world. She is the author of numerous articles and publications on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Last week, Human Rights Watch released a report on the campaign of rape being waged in Iraq by the Islamic State (ISIS) and called for medical and psychological help for the survivors. The organization interviewed 20 women and girls in the Iraqi town of Dohuk who escaped captivity by the militant group, and also spoke to medical workers who are doing their best to help the survivors.
