Sarah Granger

Bio:

Sarah Granger has more than 25 years of experience working at the intersection of technology, media, and society. An award-winning digital media innovator and bestselling author of The Digital Mystique, she launched her first digital publication at age 14 and has worked with a wide range of companies, nonprofits, and government. She currently leads content and editorial for Hunters, a global, high-growth cybersecurity company.

Sarah began her career working in cybersecurity for Lawrence Livermore National Lab, after graduating from the University of Michigan. She previously founded three companies and has served in management roles at venture funded startups and as an advisor for startups and nonprofits. As a consultant and digital strategist, she has worked with numerous organizations, including Symantec, Mozilla, Phoenix Technologies, CMP Media, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the U.S. State Department.

She led the launch of what Wired News and political analysts called the “first true weblog to be put up by a politician” in 2003. Sarah has been a Fellow at the Truman National Security Project since 2010 and she has served for many years on the U.S. Technology Policy Council of ACM, a global 100,000+ member organization of technology professionals. She also participated in the World Summit on the Information Society at the United Nations.

She is a contributing author of Diplomacy, Development, and Security in the Information Age, The Language of Cybersecurity, and Ethical Hacking. Her work has been published in Harvard Business Review, IEEE Spectrum, Air & Space Power Journal, SFGate, Inverse, Slate, and The Huffington Post. She also edited five books on digital government, mobile security, cryptography and biometrics. She has interviewed global leaders in technology, media, entertainment, finance, and government, including Fortune100 CEOs. Her writing has been translated into multiple languages, read by millions of readers around the world.

Sarah has appeared as a guest on CBS News, NBC News, Good Morning America, and NPR and she has been quoted in The New York Times, Entrepreneur, ABC News Online, The Hill, and The Washington Post. In 2012, she was recognized as one of the “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” by The Silicon Valley Business Journal.
