Katy June-Friesen


Katy June-Friesen (www.katyjunefriesen.com) is a writer and editor in Washington, D.C. As a journalist, she reports about history, arts and culture for magazines, newspapers and websites. She also writes and does research for documentary film and produces publications and proposals for nonprofits. She has worked as a reporter for NPR affiliate WAMU-FM’s Bluegrass Country and screened calls for The Diane Rehm Show and The Kojo Nnamdi Show. She was an associate editor at Current, the biweekly newspaper about public radio and television. June-Friesen also writes articles and produces video for Smithsonian.com and has written for Smithsonian magazine, where she was once an intern. Her work has been published in The St. Louis Beacon, The Dallas Morning News; The Christian Science Monitor; Penn Arts & Sciences Magazine; Alibi, Albuquerque’s alt-weekly; and the now-defunct No Depression music magazine.
