Gail McGowan Mellor


Gail McGowan Mellor has a Pulitzer nomination and various awards for investigative reporting, technical writing, medical writing and feature writing. A contributor to the Encyclopedia of Louisville, she has written two local histories, one of which received a world first prize from the International Society for Technical Communication [ISTC.]

Having spent 20 years living and working in other states and nations, she is now back in her native Kentucky, currently writing a book on fighting corporate takeover of urban land. With her carpenter husband Paul Martin and a band of skilled, dedicated and laughing people, she is forming a permanculture village centered in an endangered green oasis in Louisville.
