Ashley Binetti
Bio:
Ashley Binetti is the inaugural Hillary Rodham Clinton Law Fellow with the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. Binetti received her J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2014, with certificates in Refugee and Humanitarian Emergencies, and Transnational Legal Studies. She has a deep interest in the plight of women refugees and is dedicated to achieving social justice throughout the world through advocacy, human rights education, and strengthening rule of law. Binetti graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Cornell University with a bachelor's in government and international relations.
For the first time in the history of the Bosnian War Crimes Court, judges included compensation to a wartime rape victim as part of the court’s ruling. On June 24, 2015, Bosiljko Marković and Ostoja Marković were ordered to pay roughly $15,000 to the woman they raped during the war. The court sentenced each man to ten years in prison.
