In this case the “F Bomb” stands for “feminist.” However, it also pokes fun at the idea that the term “feminist” is so stigmatized — it is our way of proudly reclaiming the word. The fact that the “F Bomb” usually refers to a certain swear word in popular culture is also not coincidental. The FBomb.org is loud, proud, sarcastic and passionate…everything young feminists are today.
Julie Zeilinger is originally from Pepper Pike, Ohio and is currently a member of the Barnard College Class of 2015. Julie and the FBomb have been featured in media outlets such as The Daily Beast, More Magazine, Women’s Day and Salon amongst others. Her book about the next generation of feminism, entitled “A Little F’d Up: Why Feminism Is Not A Dirty Word” was published by Seal Press in the Spring of 2012.
The main purpose of the fbomb is to create a community and dialogue amongst young women, and therefore any and all submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis. There is no limit for the number of submissions per person and multiple submissions and submissions sent over time are encouraged.
