The SDLC Conference

So this week I'm going to be representing my school at the Student Diversity Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado. Here's a description of the program, in case you're wondering:

The Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades 9-12) from across the country that focuses on self-reflecting, forming allies, and building community. Led by a diverse team of adult and peer facilitators, participants will develop effective cross-cultural communication skills, better understand the nature and development of effective strategies for social justice, practice expression through the arts, and learn networking principles and strategies.

I applied for this for my own benefit (because it sounds pretty rad, no?) but also because I think it will help me to better run the fbomb and make it the diverse community it can and should be. I try to have the posts here reflect as many different kinds of people and experiences as I can, but honestly I feel like I limit myself because I don't want to be offensive due to lack of knowledge of other people's lives. I want that to end, and hopefully this conference will help that.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to blog this week, so I've lined up a bunch of guest posts. This also means I won't be able to approve comments, so if yours doesn't go up right away that's why.

I'll be back next week, ready to report!
