The Women's Media Center (WMC) is a national, non-partisan, non-profit, progressive women’s media organization based in New York City.  We were founded in 2005 by Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem to make women visible and powerful in the media. Through our advocacy, original content, and media and leadership training, the WMC works to amplify women’s voices and change the conversation.

Description and Qualifications:

The Program Coordinator is an integral member of Women’s Media Center’s team.  Under the advisement of our Vice President of Programs, the Program Coordinator will help manage WMC’s ongoing projects, including our girls programming, social media and digital outreach, and the Progressive Women’s Voices and Progressive Girls’ Voices media training and leadership programs.

The Program Coordinator will have significant background in project management, event planning, and administration.  The program coordinator will be familiar with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (most notably Blue State Digital’s tools) as well as Twitter, You Tube, Tumblr, Facebook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.  The candidate will be media-savvy and well-versed about social media.  Experience with video editing in Final Cut Pro and graphic design experience is not essential but an added plus.

The candidate will be a creative thinker and an experienced, forceful writer with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong sense of teamwork who can work independently and has a desire to learn new skills.  She or he will successfully manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.  The ideal Program Coordinator applicant will be energized to work with a progressive organization that is amplifying women’s voices and will be eager to bring innovation, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Women’s Media Center team. As a dynamic media organization, flexible availability is required, with occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a part-time hourly position based in our New York City office.  This staff member will work 20/hours per week.
