"The Iron Lady" Takes a Hit
| January 9, 2012
"Today, in a new time of budget wars, The Iron Lady’s depiction of draconian cuts as feminist guts is chilling."
Over at the Nation, Laura Flanders has written a scathing review of The Iron Lady, the new Margaret Thatcher biopic starring Meryl Streep as the UK's first female prime minister. Flanders argues persuasively that this is "the Margaret Thatcher movie we don't need" because the film glosses over Thatcher's endorsement of violence in favor of faux-feminist political representation.
