PayPal CEO, Facebook backer: If Only Women Didn't Have The Vote….

April 29, 2009

Celebrity libertarians come in many forms. Some of them are Ron Paul, for example. Another one is this guy, Peter Thiel, former CEO of PayPal and one of Facebook's primary initial investors. Peter has made a lot of money in his life and considers himself a genius. He also thinks that our hopes for a true "capitalist democracy" went to hell in a handbasket when "women got the franchise" in 1920. Check out his screed on the Cato Institute's blog, Cato Unbound, in which he addresses both the downfall of all meaningful politics via female-cast ballots and the weighty topic of what his crowd - the "smartest libertarians" - were up to in the go go 1990s. Think Bret Easton Ellis without the fun bits. Via Gawker.
