February 23, 2009As Majority Post readers know, the WMC has been following Slumdog Millionaire's co-director Loveleen Tandan. Fully credited by Danny Boyle as a co-director of the film, and the source of much of the film's cultural realism, Loveleen was absent in name and person from all other major American film awards shows before last night's Academy Awards. We did a blogpost about her and a WMC Exclusive by filmmaker Kavery Kaul called "Of Slumdog and Loveleen." So, it was thrilling to see Ms. Tandan onstage last night when Slumdog took the top award of evening. It's true that neither director Danny Boyle nor producer Christian Colson mentioned her contribution in their speeches, but it was still a net gain for visibility of the hundreds of women in film to see her there onstage last night. Congratulations, Loveleen.
