Founding Board Member Pat Mitchell at Sundance

| January 27, 2012

WMC Founding Board Member and CEO of the Paley Center for Media Pat Mitchell discussed the Sundance Film Festival in a Huffington Post article yesterday. “I was honored,” she wrote, “to be cohost of a gathering about women in film…along with two great organizations—Women In Film Los Angeles and the Sundance Institute.”

This conversation was nothing new, however. “It wasn’t the first time,” explains Mitchell, “that we’d explored these ideas. This ‘conversation’ actually started last year with an informal gathering where Jacki, Geena Davis, [WMC Co-Founder] Gloria Steinem, and 50 or so women directors, writers, producers, and funders got together to discuss how women are represented in film—both in the stories and behind the scenes.”

The Women’s Media is excited about the heightened representation of women in Sundance and commends Pat Mitchell for continuing the conversation about women in media.
