After Outcry, ABC Cancels Chris Brown Performance
November 30, 2009After a wave of protest, including a WMC blog post by Rebekah Spicuglia, ABC announced a "change of heart," cancelling a performance by singer Chris Brown on Good Morning America. GMA booked the R&B star — who earlier this year plead guilty to charges of domestic abuse against recording artist and model Rihanna — shortly after canning an appearance by pop star Adam Lambert, whose highly publicized kiss with another man at the American Music Awards raised concerns by network execs. Hats off to all who called out GMA's preference for a convicted assaulter over an openly gay man. In place of the performance, Brown sat for an in-depth interview with 20/20, set to air on December 11. Here's hoping his message against domestic violence is clearer than ABC's.
