Bio:
Jewelles Smith is an artist, a solo mom, Ph.D. student, and a fierce activist in areas of women, mothering, disability, and human rights. Smith is chairperson of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities. She currently works as a project coordinator and researcher.
Both the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence campaign and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities fall in this week—so now is a time for a call to action on behalf of disabled women and girls who experience violence and abuse.
