Erica Gonzalez is a Senior Advisor at the New York City Council. Gonzalez works to find new and innovative ways for the Council to interact with the public and to enhance overall engagement with New Yorkers. For seven years, Gonzalez served at El Diario/La Prensa, first as its Opinion Page Editor, then as Executive Editor. While there, she wrote hundreds of hard-hitting editorials on policy issues such as criminal justice and immigration reform, and led the paper’s groundbreaking multimedia project, “Sept. 11 – the Latino Experience.” Gonzalez has received two awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications.
