Amy DePaul is a journalist and college instructor in Irvine, California. In recent years, her writing on social policy and education won awards from the Council on Contemporary Families and the Education Writers Association. She is a former newspaper reporter who has written articles for the Washington Post and other major metropolitan newspapers as well as a variety of alternative/independent websites, including Alternet, Women’s eNews, Guernica, PopMatters and others. She covers public health issues in Orange County, California, and periodically writes about books and the arts.
