Abigail E. Disney
Abigail E. Disney is a filmmaker whose first film, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, directed by Gini Reticker, won the award for Best Documentary when it premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival. It documents Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace, organized by Leymah Gbowee. Her next project with Reticker and Pamela Hogan, Women, War & Peace (www.womenwarandpeace.org), begins airing on PBS October 11 and continues every Tuesday through November 8, 2011. Disney is the founder and the president of the Daphne Foundation, a progressive, social change foundation that makes grants to grassroots, community-based organizations working with low-income communities in New York City. In 2008 she launched Peace is Loud, an organization that supports female voices and international peace-building through nonviolent means.
