WMC News Feeds

Great news! In response to the great feedback we’ve gotten over the last few months, The Women’s Media Center has developed some fun, user-friendly tools that we hope make our resources easier for you to use. We hope you will:

  • Sign up to receive WMC News & Action Alerts in your email inbox
  • Get WMC Widgets for your website, blog, or Facebook page
  • Subscribe to an RSS Feed

WMC Widgets
Anyone who spends any amount of time on the internet has likely seen or even used a widget, even though you may not have realized it. A widget brings you ‘live’ content, with just a portable bit of code that can be pasted into any web page.

The Women's Media Center has two widgets that you can "get" for your website, blog, or Facebook page. You may find them on our homepage, and click on the tab that says "Get this Widget," or you may click on the links below, which will take you to a webpage with instructions.

  • Hot Button Words - Starting in August 2008, the WMC is launching “Hot Button Words” from our forthcoming Unspinning the Spin guide, providing background information on sexist and other biased terms, along with alternatives that allow you to choose the best word or phrase for your purposes‐‐words that are accurate, succinct, and inclusive.
  • WMC Daily News Brief - A must-read news aggregate for news about women and media, the WMC Daily News Brief has been an integral part of The Women’s Media Center’s web services since the launch of our site. It is a central part of our mission, helping to make women visible in the media by bringing stories to the forefront that are not being covered by the mainstream news, and through our careful editorial process, presenting a complex and varied view of women as they are.

If you have technical questions about adding a WMC Widget to your site, visit the Widgetbox FAQ page. Further questions or suggestions about our services may be emailed to communications@womensmediacenter.com.

We'd love to get your feedback! Please visit our blog, Majority Post, and tell us what you think.
