Jane Fonda's Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding

Jane Peace Love @mx 640

On June 4, Women's Media Center co-founder Jane Fonda will host the New York premiere of IFC Films' Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding, plus a VIP dinner and an exclusive afterparty, to benefit WMC. Support our mission to make women and girls visible and powerful in media by buying tickets or joining the benefit committee, for one of these events or all three.

You will be joining Jane as well as Gloria Steinem, Robin Morgan, Catherine Keener, Kyle McLachlan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chace Crawford for an exclusive dinner at an upscale Midtown restaurant whose festive decor perfectly sets the scene for the colorful film. After dinner, come with us to the private film screening and then to our afterparty at a chic, intimate space nearby. All three venues are centrally located in Midtown Manhattan.

The film is a warm and funny look at the things that three generations of women in the same family can learn from one another, even across a gulf a mile wide. Jane stars as the pot-growing, throwback matriarch, freshly reunited with her long-estranged Manhattan careerist of a daughter, played by Catherine Keener. Jane tells Liz Smith, "I KNOW when some people see this movie, they are going to say, 'Oh, she is just playing herself.' But it's not true. I was never a hippie in the '60s, I didn't know anything about that aspect of the cultural landscape." Really? Really. Jane continues, "It was Catherine Keener who really filled me in on that period. She gave me documentaries about Woodstock. She played the music. I'm not kidding you."

Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding is directed by Bruce Beresford. Jane and Catherine share the screen with Elizabeth Olsen, Chace Crawford, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyle MacLachlan, Marissa O’Donnell, and Nat Wolff.
